Our Story

Earl Cummins and Guy Kirk open an ice cream stand, just across the street from where the café is today.

Earl and Dorothy Cummins open “Cummins” in the house that is currently at 808 W. Main Street, in front of Clay’s.

Sherman and Evelyn Clay purchase Cummins, changing the name to County Fair Foods.

Sherm & Evelyn’s daughter, Glenna & her husband Mark acquired the business. The name is changed to Clay’s Café.

The first stromboli is sold.

Joshua Powell and Joseph Vericella take over a new owners of Clay’s Café. Joshua, long time family friend of the Jone’s and past employee, happily agreed to continue the tradition of Clay’s! This year being the 25th anniversary of the restaurant being named Clay’s Cafe!
